More money off deals for the over-60s

Following on from yesterday’s blog about discounted travel for the over, here are some more money off deals for the over-60s starting with cinema:

Odeon – Enjoy discounted weekly Silver Cinema screenings for over-55s on a Wednesday at Odeon Cinema. Tickets are £3 and come with a hot drink and biscuit!

Showcase Cinema – If Wednesdays are no good, Showcase cinemas offer Senior Screenings on a Monday where people over 60 can pay £5 for a ticket or £7 for 3D films.

Vue Senior Screenings for those over 60 start at £4.49 and again you get a hot drink and biscuit!

Everyman Cinema – offer concessions for the over 60s. They also hold Silver Screen, a weekly matinee screening of a current release for film fans aged 55 and over. Ticket prices include a free hot drink and a slice of cake.

Picurehouse Cinemas  – Free Silver Screen membership for over-60s with special screenings and free refreshments. Cut-price membership for retirees also available offering discounted tickets as well as food and drink, and four free tickets.

Cineworld – Discounts vary from £1.50 – £5 for a senior ticket. Check online for your local cinema or book in person at the box office.

Sticking to the leisure theme, here are some more offers:

National Trust – The rules for this one are a bit onerous but over-60s can get 25% annual National Trust membership, if they’ve held a full individual or joint membership for 5 of the last 10 years

English Heritage – You’ll have to wait until you’re 65 for senior membership with English Heritage. Their senior membership offer gives you unlimited access to over 400 historic places across the UK for one year for £46 instead of £54. Discover sites and attractions near you at english-heritage.org.uk

Royal Horticultural Society membership – Over-60s receive more than £500 off lifetime membership (£1,250 individual, £1,750 joint), offering free visits to RHS gardens, a free magazine, gardening advice and discounted garden show tickets including the Chelsea Flower Show.

National Theatre – If you’re heading to London, take advantage of senior citizens discounts to midweek matinees at the National Theatre all-year long.

Royal Shakespeare Company – Over-60s receive 20% off all seats (except premium) on Monday and Tuesday evenings and all midweek matinees. Selected performances only. Visit rsc.org.uk

Football matches – Most clubs discount membership and tickets for members over 60 or 65, check with your local club for details. It’s also worth checking to see if the youth or reserve side matches are free to watch. It’s a great way to support your team and watch up and coming talent.

The Ramblers Association – Discounted individual or joint life membership for all over-60s.

Look out for the third and final blog rounding up the rest of the offers I’ve found for the over-60s.
